Fellowship of AMASI

AMASI has instituted certification in minimally invasive surgery through its Fellowship course. The ‘Skill Course’ in Minimal Access Surgery represents a milestone in surgical education in our country in providing post-residency training to surgeons across India for an incumbent and rapidly evolving field, on a nationwide basis. The conglomerate of new technology, new techniques and new outlook has prompted the introduction of this formalized pattern of learning.

10th Skill Course - Kochi
January 15 - 18, 2009

We are proud to announce that AMASI is holding its next Fellowship and Skill course at
Amrita institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi. So far, AMASI has successfully conducted 9 Skill courses nationwide. It was encouraging to note that surgeons of all age groups attended these courses. They found that it was very useful for their practice.
Laparoscopic surgery has become the standard for general surgery, and thus certification is required to ensure that the minimum standards are met. Certification may help in medico-legal cases also.
The skill courses conducted by AMASI provide the basic kowledge required by any surgeon stepping into the laparoscopic field. As evident from the programme, the course attempts to provide comprehensive knowledge, from OT setup to advanced laparoscopic surgery. It fills a gap felt by most surgeons who stepped out of Medical College without any training in laparoscopic surgery. AMASI has attempted to shorten the learning curve, and even experienced lap surgeons will find it useful for conducting advanced lap surgery. The course is supported by the MCI
I take this opportunity in inviting you and your colleagues to participate in this programme.
