I am pleased to issue the notification for the election of Executive Committee Members of Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI) for the term 2010-2012. The election for the following posts will be held by secret postal ballot.

  • South Zone Chapter : Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Andman & Nicobar, Lakshdweep, Pondicherry (UT).
  • West Zone Chapter : Maharashtra, Dadra & Nagar Haveli (UT), Goa, Gujarat, Daman & Diu(UT)
  • Central Zone Chapter : Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Delhi & New Delhi
  • North Zone Chapter : Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh (UT),        Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Rajasthan.
  • East Zone Chapter : Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Orissa, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh,   Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim

The Election schedule is as follows:

  1. Nominations invited -  01.01.10
  2. Last date for receiving nominations at Head Quarter – 31.01.10 at 5pm
  3. Last date for withdrawal of nominations – 15.02.10 at 5pm
  4. Last date of posting ballots – 28.02.10.
  5. Last date of return of ballot papers – 31.03.10 at 5pm.
  6. Counting of ballots – 01.04.10.

 Conditions & Eligibility:

  1. Members of Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI) with voting rights vide 3.1, Rules & Regulations (By-Laws) of Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India will vote for all the posts.
  2. Full life members of Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI) only enrolled before 15.12.07 are eligible to nominate and contest in the election process.
  3. Full life members of Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI) only enrolled before 31.03.09 are eligible to vote in the election process.
  4. The candidate must be proposed and seconded by full life member of AMASI.
  5. The member seeking election as well as the members proposing and seconding the nomination of the candidate must be in good standing.
  6. The nomination must be on the prescribed form attached with this notification. The prescribed nomination form can also be downloaded from the AMASI website www.amasindia.com
  7. The nomination will be duly signed by the member indicating his consent for the nomination.
  8. One member can contest only for one post.
  9. One can propose and second only one candidate for one particular post.
  10. The nomination paper must be accompanied by a short signed CV of the member not exceeding 200 words. A passport sized photograph of the candidate must accompany with the CV. Failure to send the CV with the nomination form will entail rejection of the same.
  11. Each nomination form should be accompanied by the nomination fee as detailed below for the respective post. The nomination fee should be in the form of Demand Draft in favour of “Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India” payable at Coimbatore. Any nomination paper without the nomination fee will entail rejection.

  13. Incomplete nomination paper will entail rejection.
  14. The decision of election commission comprising of Chief election officer and the two election officers be full and final.
  15. All complaints / grievances in the election matter will be considered by the Election Tribunal as per Rule 8 (X) of Rules and Regulation (By-Laws) of Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India.
  16. The election Tribunal consists of

  17. Individual canvassing by the candidate or on his behalf by any member or individual in any form namely letter / email / SMS open stage meeting are strictly prohibited.
